Along with the computer technology's rapid development, the web-based course is playing the more and more vital role in higher education. Life-long, effective and worldwide teaching has made web-based education become an important research field in the modern education.However, though abundant resources in the web have brought more information to learners, if not organize in an effective way, it often cause bias and lose, so it's necessary to introduce a kind of effective knowledge organization tool. The paper has put forward the web-based course based on knowledge map. By using the character of knowledge map like concise, clear, easy to construct, we express the knowledge structure, learning object, learning content and site navigation by diagram forms. In self-learning, by the guide of knowledge map, a complete understanding of knowledge and reasonable expansion are achieved ,which make the learners tacit knowledge obvious, visible and can help the learners organize and integrate information. Meanwhile, by using the advantages of the Internet, people can share the learning achievement of other learners. It will improve the students'learning enthusiasm and collaboration capabilities, and promote advanced thinking pattern as well.In this paper, through full discussion and the concept of knowledge map, we probe into the potential value of knowledge map in network teaching and put the knowledge map into network course design and develop the network courses learning platform - "C Programming" network course. The article is divided into five components.Part one: this study gives a brief introduction of the subject background, research questions and significance of the problem.Part two: the related theory on the application of network curriculum design are presented, including the basic theories, network programs and knowledge mapPart three: it studies the application of knowledge map teaching in the network teaching course design and navigation design. It also explores the design principle and structure model of the network curriculum, the specific introduction of the design of the network curriculum and function of modular by using knowledge map.Part four: taking "C Programming" as an example, network courses are designed and developed by the application of knowledge map, and the analysis of practical effect is conducted.Part V: Summarize the full text, Pointed out the flaw and the insufficiency and make the forecast to the research.
