The Practice And Exploration Of Carrying Out The Elective Course Of English Publication Reading In High School

To develop the curriculum resources actively and utilize it reasonably is an important component of the English curriculum practice. High school English Curriculum Standard emphasized that,"English curriculum requests using and developing the curriculum resources positively and reasonably, providing the students healthy and rich curriculum resources which draw close to the society ,the life and the times." With the curriculum reform carrying out thoroughly, English newspaper reading receives more and more attention in Senior English reading teaching. AT present ,mang schools are carrying out "English Newspaper Reading"as elective course,and get good results. In our school .where the majority of students come from the countryside , English publication is quite cheap and easy to obtain, and it has rish reading materials drawing close to the times. Besides, English publication reading is also taken as one of the elective courses mentioned in the new English curriculum. Therefore, we attempt to carry out English publication elective course for Senior Two students in our school.After a brief summary of the monographs on English publication reading and a brief retrospection about the existent study achievements, I decided to profits from the maturer teaching model in publication reading elective course in other schools. According to the present situation of the students in our school, we carries on gradual instructions to student's English publication reading: The first stage, instructs the student to study and understand essential features of English publications;The second stage, instructs the students to pratice reading and analysis the features of publication reading. The third stage, instructs the student to carry on the group cooperation study, and exchange mutually. According to the evaluation criteria, We mainly adapt the way the appraisal and the curriculum terminating test unifies, simultaneously guide the student to carry on individual appraisal and the group descriptive appraisal.In the course of carrying out English publication reading, we met with a series of problems, like the students' vocabulary is limited Jack of good reading habits and techniques as well as the relevant background knowledge, and the students' group cooperation study also has low efficiency .All the above demand that as teachers we must devote ourselves to English teaching, strengthen our education theory tutelage, seize the opportunity in the teaching to improve ourselves and raise our individual teaching specialization level unceasingly.
