In the oral English teaching practice in high school, task-based teaching method is used for students with the learning task of oral English to gain the related English knowledge and skills. It is a kind of teaching method aiming to develop the students' ability of exploration and application and to get emotional experience. It is student-oriented and based on the independent development of the students. It discovers and solves the problems through students' initiative information collection, information analysis, information processing and information application, so as to cultivate students' capability of knowledge acquisition and innovation. In the teaching reform of oral English in high school, the application of task-based teaching method can fully develop student's initiative and creativity, helps students engage in language application, analysis, and induction and promote knowledge application, so as to cultivate students' cooperation spirit in study. Task-based teaching method, which originated abroad in the 1980s , was widely welcomed. In China, after the enactment of new "full-time compulsory education—standards of ordinary high school English curriculum", many educators began to explore and experiment this kind of teaching method. This paper will put forwards the connotation of " task-based education" by analyzing the birth and development of task-based teaching method at home and abroad.This paper summarizes the characteristics of task-based teaching method through its reflection. The main body of this paper probes the task design, task choice and specific application of task-based teaching method. Moreover, it tries to find a much better oral English teaching method to improve the level of oral English teaching in senior high school so as to fit the rapid development of oral English teaching in China. |
