| With the continued expansion of Chinese higher education and the continuous deepening of its system reform, the school office, as the hub and the general management department, is undertaking increasingly onerous tasks in daily management practice, which has produced lot problems. This dissertation, centering on a case study of colleges and universities, adopting a field research method in education management study, attempts to reveal the existing problems and shortcomings in the school office management with first-hand information from the micro-start, and then offer some advice of reform with an attitude of criticism and reflection.This dissertation contains six parts. In part one, the cause and purpose of this research and the achieved study till now are put forward, as well as the basic concepts, main content and the research methods. The second part generally states the basic situation of the researched "A" university, and the social environment it lives in. Moreover, its school's developing history is recalled. The third part tries to make out the school office management's characteristics with a panoramic view of its current running, from the perspectives of essential factors and its actual performance. Part four analyses the functions of the school office from its member staff. In part five, the author offers an analysis on the major problems existing in the office and their causes from the views of the university professional department, school office leaders, the office staff, teachers, etc. Part six is the last part, which, from three aspects—the university, schools, and the office staff, offers the ways to improve and perfect the university's school office management.After research, the author concludes that: the problems existing in the university's school office management are caused by the management's bureaucratic system and its complexity, which goes as a result of the expansion of higher education. The university should provide support for the school office from its macro-policy, the system and the working mechanism. Meanwhile, the schools are expected to take some positive measures in accordance with their own developing needs. What's more, it is of great importance for the office staff to seek self inner development in changing their views. |
