| Literacy is the foundation of children's learning of reading, writing and all kinds of knowledge. Thus it is an indispensable part of reforms of Chinese teaching. Teachers, who are responsible for Chinese teaching, pay great attention to the literacy throughout the history. They explore and try to find out an effective way of literacy teaching during their teaching practice. In another word, they keep on doing research persistently. Their accumulated experience inspires latecomers to make further progress.Since the establishment of New People's Republic of China, researches of literacy teaching are very popular. Researchers and teachers of literacy teaching make a great achievement through their hard work, which focuses on the rules of Chinese character and the local condition, and some reflection and improvement have been made thereafter. Today, many people devoted to education continue the researches and practices of literacy teaching. New experiments and new concepts are cropping up, which makes a great contribution to the objective of making the literacy teaching more scientific.This paper tries to record the history of exploration activities of literacy teaching chronologically, and reveal the rules of it that may exist. Then there is a discussion about the quantity and teaching material of literacy .The paper consists of five parts.The preface makes a brief introduction about the reasons and significance of this issue and the achievements that have already been made in this field.The first chapter is about the process of emergence, development, argument and integration of exploration activities of literacy teaching and its achievements. Thus we will have a clear idea of the significance of these achievements and its guiding role to the practice of literacy teaching.The second chapter makes retrospection about the requirements of the quantity of literacy and its distribution in different grades during this period. The analysis of the total quantity and its distribution in different grades is based on the results of research on normal Chinese character and the characteristics of children's psychology at different learning stages.The third chapter focuses on the introduction of several special teaching materials of literacy and makes a discussion about their content and purpose.The last part gives out the consideration about the discussion of "centralized literacy" and "decentralized literacy" which attracts a lot of attention during the process of literacy study, and some rules we have to follow in the process of literacy teaching. |
