Generating Teaching is a new teaching concept appearing with reform of the curriculum and implementation of the new curriculum. As a new teaching philosophy, Generating Teaching should be applied in the teaching of specific disciplines, combined with the concrete teaching, and offer some guidance to the teaching of specific disciplines. This paper is an attempted research into the application of Generating Teaching to high-school ideological and political lessons in terms of the significance, the theoretical foundation, the principle, the implementation process, and the basic strategies.First, Research on Generating Teaching in high school ideological and political lessons is of considerable significance theoretically and practically both to the classroom teaching and the students'study or teachers'teaching.Second,Generating Teaching in high school ideological and political lessons is not only based theoretically on both pedagogy and psychology but also embodies the principal spirit of China's basic education curriculum reform and the characteristics of high school ideological and political lessons. Three, to implement Generating Teaching in high school ideological and political lessons the holistic principle, adaptive principle, the principle of variability, the principal-part principle and the principle of scenarios should be followed. The usual process should include these steps: getting prepared for generation with a careful presupposition, inducing generation by creating situations, achieving generation through interaction and feedback, refining generation by creating teaching conflict, and raising generation through guidance and summing up. Strategies employed should encompass optimizing teaching materials, reorganizing teaching content, integrating generation information and optimizing the forms of classroom organization. In a word, the aim is to achieve generation in the process of presupposition in which the teacher builds knowledge networks, in the process of the students'practical experience, in the process of questioning and collision, in emotion experience, in blank leaving and in the process of exploration. The teacher is expected to know how to discover and make the best use of educational resources so as to achieve more effective generation.
