The Empirical Study On City Primary Teachers' Job Burnout

Chinese primary teachers are subject to great job burnout day by day with the increase of Market Economy development and talent competition in recent years. The job burnout will be caused directly if the job pressure with no effective control. It will influence not only teacher' s teaching condition and student' s development but also teacher' s mental and physical health and life quality. Furthermore, it will led to the overall decline of the quality of compulsory education directly and destabilizes the foundation of the country' s modernization development that the consequence can not be ignored.To study the present condition, cause, developing process and deleting method of primary teacher' s job burnout, this study based on the analysis of the data on teacher job burnout both at home and abroad. Based on questionnaire survey and interview survey as supplementary—an analysis on 264 teachers' job burnout and its influence is made and those are from 5 city primary schools in Y area in Xiangtan. Among them, 5 city primary teachers are interviewed about job and living condition in Y area in Xiangtan additionally. The purpose is to know the real present condition of city primary school teacher' s job burnout in Y area in Xiangtan.The study result tells us that: first, the city primary school teacher' s job burnout in Y area in Xiangtan is not serious but the burnout tendency in proportion is typical which highly emotional exhaustion appears. The striking differences are in sex, age, teaching years, highest record of formal schooling, professional job title, teaching subject, teaching grade, teacher in charge of class or not and monthly salary in the job burnout form and one or more than one job burnout angles while the marriage condition has no typical difference. The job burnout summit appears in those teachers whose teaching years are from 5 to 9 years or from 15 to 19 years which can be named as "Double Five-Nine" . The major job burnout pressure originate from those aspects: the social over-anticipation on teacher; all sorts of check and comparison from school and educational department; intensive job, trivial teaching duty and student management; too much students in a class; the contradiction between quality education and promotion system. The job burnout is a gradual process that reflects the low-intensive reaction in a period. At last, from the analysis of psychological development trajectory of teacher' s burnout the interviewees' feeling all experienced a series of complex changing:hoping-losing-disappointing-depressing-desperating. The job burnout originates from the lack of personal basic need and developing need.According to the study above, this paper provides some solutions to prevent and eliminate primary teacher' s job burnout: from the perspective of society, the value of teacher should be affirmed to establish a healthy social support system; from the perspective of school, a "teacher-based" management should be established to create a harmonious environment; from the perspective of teacher, they should promote self-Adjust ment capacity, striving to realize their own value.
