The educational value of the function decides that it was, is and will still be the key contents of maths in high school. Around 2001, a mass reform of curriculum in basic education was begun in our country. In September, 2007, my hometown, Heilongjiang province has also carried out the experiment on the new curriculum of general high school. The new course standard of maths in high school brings new energy to the teaching of the function in the aspects such as theory, content and method.The thesis not only traces and discusses the development history of the function with the document-analysis method, but also summarizes and discusses its educational value towards students. Besides, against the background of the change of times, the thesis analyses the reality of reform of the function course with the theory--discussion method and shows the differences by comparing the new and old teaching programme, the new and old teaching books.With the arrangement of maths course highlighting the mainline of the function and with the spiral layouts, the function is still the most difficult part for students to learn. The thesis analyses why it is difficult for students to master the function and discusses how the teachers should adopt their teaching strategy. The thesis pays more attention to the practice, the summary and reflection on the problem encountered in the function teaching of the new standard curriculum and its relative solution strategy.With the case-analysis method and experience-summarization method, the author thicks deeply over the function teaching against the background of new curriculum.The thesis focuses on how to embody the educational value of the function in the teaching programme against the background of new curriculum in a better way.With the cases in the thesis, the author attempts to embody the educational value of the function.That is ------- with the study of the function, the students can improve their logic and abstract thinking ability so as to apply maths in their daily life and to get to know and understand the complicated world.The aim of this thesis is as following: First, the author can summarize her own understanding and experience of the function teaching in the recent 3 years when writing this thesis. Second, the author not only makes some necessary discussion about the function teaching against the background of new curriculum with the theory of pedagogy and psychology, but also puts forward her own thinking and suggestion for the curriculum reform as a teacher with some problems encountered in her own teaching.
