Study On The Current Situation And Countermeasures Of Vocational Guidance In Higher Vocational Institutes In JiLin Province

Vocational guidance of higher vocational institutes is a complex and very important systematic project, a key link to improve students' employment competence, to ensure their full employment and to realize the stabilization of their employment and vocational development. Because of the slow start of higher vocational education and its upgrade from secondary technical schools or its transformation from other sorts of colleges, the vocational guidance of higher vocational has still been at the start stage. Strengthening vocational guidance of higher vocational institutes is the embodiment of essential characteristics in realizing the employment and development of the graduates, the need of self-perfect and energy-promoting occupational education and the requirements for vocational reform and development to build a well-to-do society.According to the systematic study on the relevant domestic and foreign theories and practices, the current situation of vocational guidance in higher vocational institutes in JiLin Province and of economic development, this paper aims at analyzing the necessity to strengthen vocational guidance and revealing its problems, based on the investigation and analysis of current situation of vocational guidance in higher vocational institutes. The problems are as the following: 1) The organization of vocational guidance has not been efficient. The staff working force is poor. 2) The purpose of vocational guidance is only to guide how to get employed and its object is only graduates. 3) The forms of vocational guidance are quite wide but not obvious in effect. 4) The vocational guidance is rich in content with unbalanced development. The career design, guidance in entreprenurial awareness and capabilities and in psychological consultation are poor. 5) There is a lack of coherent information in vocational guidance in library in which there is no professional staff in charge of its collection and management. 6) There is not enough information in vocational guidance on website and the informational effectiveness and its utilization rate are low.According to the problems in vocational guidance and the actual needs of the students in higher vocational institutes, this paper puts forward a series of countermeasures to improve it which cover: 1) Emphasis should be put on the work of Vocational guidance so as to enhance the validity of vocational guidance. 2) Perfect the building of whole staff to improve their professional skills and abilities. 3) Expand the range of service objects and implement vocational guidance of whole process. 4) Enrich forms of vocational guidance and enhance its effect, its content and make it more systematic and scientific. 5) Improving the information service of the library and network so as to make them give full play in supporting adequate information.The study on the problems of vocational guidance existing in higher vocational institutes in JiLin Province aims at giving feasible suggestions in detailed implementation of vocational guidance. The ultimate goal is to strengthen its pertinency and validity, to improve students' vocational qualities and abilities and to help students make their own career plans and develop to be qualified persons while being adapted to and integrated into society, which will lay a good foundation for their future career.
