| With the fast development of the higher education in China, the amount ofgraduates from institutes of higher learning is increasing rapidly. Hence the issueof graduate employment has become one of public concern. Higher Education aims atcultivating erectors and successors qualified for socialist modernization. Thevocational guidance in institutes of higher learning plays an important role inlinking the achievement of the aim to the need for the talented from our society.The vocational guidance in institutes of higher learning has started out andexperienced ten years of exploration and development. Yet the problem of itsinefficiency is undeniable. It has been an issue demanding immediate and thoroughresearch to adapt to the new situation and to improve the efficiency in the vocationalguidance.This article adopts philology, questionnaire, in-depth interview and comparison.After a survey at six local institutes of higher learning in Nantong, it offers acomparison with the relatively well-grounded career guidance in Americanuniversities and an analysis of the Chinese vocational guidance in higher educationin both the present state and the vocational practice. Then it points out theinefficiency of the vocational guidance in institutes of higher learning in china.After stating that the improvement of efficiency is what we are obliged to considerat present time, it takes an approach in analyzing various causes for the problem.Finally, it offers a list of countermeasures against the problem.This article takes a tentative approach on the efficiency of the vocationalguidance in institutes of higher learning in China. It deepens the readers'theoretical understanding of the vocational guidance in institutes of higher learningand plays an enlighten role in the reform in higher education and the establishmentof some correlative policies to a certain degree. |
