The research in the thesis aims to make it clear for primary and middle school teachers that teacher professional development is a concept that surmounts training, and includes the formal and informal learning methods. And, teacher professional development is different from teacher's specialization. The individual's initiative, positive and conscientious pursuit of growing up is emphasized. It is a ripe dynamic evolution. Teacher professional development satisfies the demand of educational undertaking and the education quality in our country, and it is also satisfied with the demand for teacher procession. Teacher professional development is an objective problem that can't be avoided. The research put great emphasis on the approaches of information technology enhancing the professional development of primary and middle school teachers.The main research method of this thesis is qualitative approach. Through questionnaires and interviews abundant data are collected about the problems of the teacher professional development under the circumstance of information technology. The subjects are interviewed by individual or in groups, including the representatives of primary and middle school teachers at different levels, the administrative officers in schools, excellent teachers and new teachers. The subjects of the interview in groups are from a teaching section from a primary school in our district. Through research we have learnt about teacher quality, the requirements of education and teaching and learning and the present situation of teacher professional development.In the opinion of this thesis, the technology that the teacher used nowadays should be incorporated with the whole teaching process and the content of the courses. And we think that as long as the possible factors of the information technology are available, it is possible to enhance teacher professional development with the help of information technology.In the opinion of this thesis, teacher professional development should be combined with the teacher's teaching life, incorporating the information technology with the teacher's teaching, melted in the teacher's daily teaching, and playing an important role of supporting the professional development of teacher's constantly. Information technology is considered as an essential tool for teaching and life .So in order to study teacher professional development, we must see about the teaching process and track the growing up of teachers .At the same time, we should study how the information technology is used, how to make good use of it and make it convenient for the teachers. The thesis adopts the qualitative research method, research and analysis the object from the course of teaching and sums up the course of growing up of the teacher. The goal of teacher professional development is to make the teacher to be an expert on teaching; the main content is to develop the practical knowledge; the way is to enhance the teacher professional development through information technology.We proposed that we can construct the educational narration platform, reflective teaching platform and Internet-based teacher cooperation study body and E-teaching portfolio to enhance teacher professional development. Finally, the thesis proposed the suggestions on the practices of three kinds of ways and analyzed the result of its application.
