As is known to all of us , the research of cultural change has been one of the most important areas in anthropological study. It has been generally believed that cultural change may be caused by such elements as culture contact, diffusion of culture, technical development, ecological change and so on . Applying the methods of anthropology ,ethnology and some other related disciplines and based on the first hand ethnographic materials gained through the field work , the thesis mainly deals with the relationship between ecological environment and cultural change of Lopnur people , an important branch of Uyghur nation , who lived around the Lopnur lake many years ago and moved to the villages of contemporary Lopnur County after the Lopnur Lake dried at the end of 1960s. The main frame of the whole thesis develops as following :The beginning of the thesis mainly provides the past achievements related to this topic . The aim , practical and theoretical meanings of choosing this research topic, and research methods are mentioned in the first chapter of the thesis . In the second chapter , the author gives brief information about the language , racial type of Lopnur people. Mainly discussing the traditional subsistence of Lopnur people , chapter three tries to make analysis of its forming ,characteristics and its relation with ecological environment . Terim river and Lopnur lake was once the most important area where the Lopnur people lived and created their culture with strong ecological characteristics until the end of 1960s when both the river and lake dried completely . As the result of this it became impossible for Lopnur people to live there any longer and moved to various places around , having to change their traditional forms of life completely . Based on the past findings , chapter four mainly focuses on the ecolological change of Terim river and Lopnur lake . Chapter five mainly discusses the traditional forms and changes of Lopnur people , particularly their traditional custom of eating , dressing , housing style , getting married and the way they entertained , making rather deep analysis of changes of life forms mentioned above . Final part of the thesis is provided to draw brief conclusion of the whole article .
