School Management: Using Ancient Excellent Management Thoughts Nowadays

At present, in the progress of school management practice, many educational administration departments or the administrators of school in our country often neglect the idea of education.According to the idea,education should develop people foremost and student-oriented, and administrate school should cultivate talent foremost and teacher-oriented.What's more,as they take so much power in they hands, they decide all of things but ignore the cultivation of teachers and the development of students'personalities. In their view, the key of school administration is how to control students.So, they often stress the administration of microcosmical progress but neglect to stimulate students'initiative of self-management sufficiently.Based on the premise of this, a great number of scholars and administrators in educational administration departments have a profound respect for management models abroad. In their opinions, all the things abroad is good, and it seems that only the western management idea, management system and management method can be called as scientific management, and only the western management theories can be used to guide the practice of Chinese school management thoroughly, while the Chinese excellent management thoughts have been neglected, forgotten or even been denied.To illustrate and anatomize the problems and deficiency in present education administration practice, such as teacher management, student management, curriculum management and relationship between teacher and students, the author refers the core of this research that"Using"is the key of using ancient thought nowadays.The aim of researching Chinese ancient management thought is to inherit and enlarge the essence of ancient management thought, so that it can service for building, innovation and developing Chinese specific school management thoughts.Only to set a place for ancient excellent management in today's school management practice, can this research has vitality.The author hopes that this research can cast a brick to attract jade in helping Chinese school management improvement, so that it can be a bridge and bond of further research.The paper divided into two sections and six chapters to do the research:In the first section, which illustrates ancient management thought, there are three chapters.Chapter I elaborates series mainly problems in the practice of school management in recent years.Then, it analyses the phenomenon that researchers always bring in western management theory to guide the practice of school management thoroughly and analyses some positive research documents about ancient management idea which were researched by experts and scholars domestic or abroad during recent twenty years.Also, it introduces their opinion and attitudes about Chinese ancient management thought.On knowing the exploring progress of how to apply ancient management thoughts to solve various problems in management practice which referred by Chinese education research field and connecting with the facts in the present school management situation, the author offers a basic structure and research method about this paper.Chapter II elaborates six factions of Chinese ancient management thoughts such as Confucianism, Taoism, Mohism, and so on.Furthermore, it illustrates and analyses those management principals and management methods which can be traced to the same origin of present management practice.And Chapter III, after through combing about before-mentioned six factions of Chinese ancient management thoughts, it summarizes the development characters of Chinese ancient management thoughts: First, it both has hardness and softness nature from the point of means and methods. Second, it has a flexible nature on the view of its development tendency.Third, it has a harmonious nature from the perspective of dialectical philosophy. And abstracts the essence of ancient management thoughts, that is: people—oriented, moral—oriented, doctrine of mean, harmony as the noblest thing, and govern by non-inference.The second section, which is the key of this research, is an enlightening section.It includes Chapter IV, Chapter V and Chapter VI.Between them, Chapter IV and Chapter V use the method of questionnaire, interview and informal discussion to give a stress investigation about the primary problems of teacher management and students management (such as the relationship between teacher and students ) of primary schools and middle school in Guangxi province.And the main tasks of this investigation are the training demands of teachers and the relationship between teacher and students.Then, according to the result of this investigation, it analyses some aspects of ancient excellent management thoughts which the administrators in present school management should pay attention to, absorb, or even use for reference.And it also offers some strategies.In Chapter VI, it gives stressed illustration and strategies to aim at solving the drawbacks and shortcomings of present school curriculum management.That is: In the progress of teacher management, aiming at the labor characters of teachers', the author refers that administrators should stress on humanity, should satisfied teacher's suitable suggestions and at the same time they should pay a very import attention on teacher's personal development; When estimating and examining teachers, they should stressed examine teachers'"moral"and do the principle"moral—oriented"feasibly.Only they adopt the soft management principle rationally, can they fulfill the aim of harmonious management; And when managing students, in order to avoid the indifferent and nervous situation take place, teachers and administrators should set up the management idea of"students-oriented"foremost, and in the progress of management, they should try to influence them emotionally, and try to give them more opportunities and rights.Then, let them experience and train by themselves, so that it can arrive the ambit of"govern by non-inference".In Chapter VI, it gives stressed illustration and strategies to aim at solving the drawbacks and shortcomings of present school curriculum management.It mainly research how to apply the ancient excellent management thoughts to curriculum management, and at the same time, it offers some strategies and methods about curriculum management innovation by using ancient excellent management thoughts.That is: Aiming at the problems like administrators too stressed neat on the whole but humanistic deficiency in the progress of curriculum management, the author refers to the suggestion that teachers and administrators should have golden-mean harmonious ideas in the progress of curriculum management, and they should do the educational idea of"people-oriented"feasibly, so that they can reach the ideal ambit of"medium".
