For the enforcement of nine-year compulsory education in the poor minority area in west region, the important and difficult part is girls'education. Through the investigating on girls'compulsory education of gan chuan village, biezang district, jishishan county, linxia, this study aims at acquainting the condition of local girls'enrollment, deprived of education and dropout, tries to seek the problems which exist in girls'education, explores the factors which affect laocal girls'compulsory education, such as family, religion, culture, custom, curriculum, teaching material and gives some suggestion on how to impove the condition of local minority girls'compulsory education.The main conclusions are as following:1. From the vertical view, in the latter 10 years, the girls'education of Gan chuan village is developing step by step. The number of girl students, the enrollment rate and survival rates of girls have been promoted to a great extent.2. From the contrast of view, the enrollment rate of girls also have spatial differences with boys and school-age children, also have bigger spatial differences with national average level and other areas.3. The main reason for girls'enrollment rate rising obviously is that various projects offered subsidization, the policy of free compulsory education came into practice, and school condition and teaching quality improved.4. The main factor that restricts the girls'education development includes parents'culture level, education idea, the children's expection of enrollment, and family's economic factor.5. A serious lack of local teachers, particularly the shortage of female teacher in remoter school, is also one of the factor that affected the enrollment.6. The education of local schools'underage and overage girls is also key point, and this is the urgent problem to be dealed with for schools and teachers.This papers also gives some advice on how to improve minority education of girls in poverty areas. They are as following:First, governments at all levels, especially the local governments should fully realize the importance of girls education, focus on this problem as the "two basics" in the western religion and finish this task wonderfully.Second, we should build and improve the rights protection system of girls education.Third, increase the investment in girls'education, and establish the special project for ethnic minority girls education.Fourth, we should strengthen the role of public press, make those females who are successful in academic play the role of model.Fifth, curriculum and teaching materials should be suitable for the culture and psychological characteristics of ethnic minority.Sixth, strengthen teachers groups, and cultivate teachers that can be adapted to the development of girls education in poor ethnic minority areas.Seventh, actively do the research on the ethnic girls education, direct and promote the development of ethnic minority girls.
