Research On Developing Strategy Of Colleges And Universities

At the end of the 1990s, while the system reform of the socialist market-oriented economy was constantly deepening and the decision making power of colleges and universities was constantly enlarging, some high-level colleges and universities seized the opportunities of the construction of the "211 Project" and the "985 Project" and begun their research and quest for the development strategy. Since the beginning of this new century, higher education in our country entered the era of the mass education. Classifying, level-positioning and increasingly fierce competitions between colleges and universities push them into the era of development strategy planning.Development strategies of colleges and universities are the important and overall plans and schemes that act as the supreme guiding principles of the future development of colleges and universities. On the one hand, by developing the strategy research, colleges and universities can have an overall and correct idea about the present and future environment, the developing direction, and the developing aim, and thus making it possible to seize opportunities for development, to avoid threatening and risks, and to develop fast in fierce competition. On the other hand, by planning and implementing the development strategy, the colleges and universities can build, under the guidance of the vision and the mission, an overall strategy and a sub-strategy, both of which integrate the long and short term goals and extend to all the levels. So, the colleges and universities can adapt better to the changing environment, form their core competitive power, and keep their competitive advantages, thus further improving their level and capability of managing the colleges and universities.Using enterprise development strategy theories as reference, after introducing the aim and meaning of this research, concluding the abroad and domestic status quo, relevant theories and points of view, and analyzing the necessity for colleges and universities to make development strategies, this paper systematically collates and researches the content and relevant theories about the development strategy analysis and strategy making of colleges and universities. This paper generalizes and constructs a theoretical system of development strategies for our domestic colleges and universities and it also provides basic theoretical basis for relevant scholars, colleges and universities to make development strategies.
