Teacher Self-education Under The Background Of Professionalization

The occupation of teacher has been developing for more than 300 years as a profession. Under the background of modern professionalization, teacher education and training are increasingly attaching attention to the role that teachers' internal cause plays in the course. It has been a fact that teacher education treats "teachers as the fundamental". Teacher self-education has become quite an important means for teacher development.This essay expresses the view that teacher self-education is an important area of teacher development research. As a necessary way of human beings' self-development, teacher self-education has been paid much attention to for its great significance. However, the existing research has not looked deeply into the course of professionalization from the perspectives of self-education. This article defines teacher self-education through researching into the relative documents, analyses the problems existing in the field of teacher self-education, and discusses how to fulfill self-development of teacher by self-education so as to make teacher development more effective.In the first section, the article recalls the past and present study on how teachers develop through self-education, and makes some comments on that.The second section states what teacher self-education means under the background of professionalization. This part also deals with the characteristics of teacher self-education.In view of some existing problems about teacher self-education, the third part of this essay states the situations of teacher self-education and analyzes the reasons, which also lays the basis on how to solve the problems for the next part.The last section presents teachers with some concrete techniques for them to achieve the goal of professionization and smooth away existing problems, especially how teachers realize self-education by themselves to enhance their professionalization.
