The CNNIC published the report of Chinese internet development status in January, 2007. The report demonstrated that only 16% of the people who participated in the network education before were extremely satisfied with the content. It has been obviously taken on that the content design of network education tuition is not very good. The Web-courses is an important constitution of network educational resources. And it is an important method for the students to carry on the network learning. The Web-courses'quality has directly affected the network educational teaching effect. The well-designed and suitable Web-courses are urgently appealed in the network education domain.The Information Architecture is put forward by Mr. Wurman. And it is widely applied to the website construction. It helps the people discover and manage the information successfully, demonstrate explain and understand the information better. The Web-courses exists some problems such as the information is expressed with text too much, the navigation is distempered; the interaction is not strong etc. These problems are precisely the question which Information Architecture can solve.Based on the study of IA concept internal and abroad, this thesis elaborates the IA concept and its core content in detail, and introduces the IA research status at present as well as the characteristic. Then it puts forward the IA model combined the reality of Web-courses. The thesis anatomizes the Web-courses from the user, the content, the environment angle and studies the organization system and the navigation mechanism exhaustively. It also carries on the IA design combining a Web-courses case, that settles certain rationale for the Web-courses IA practice.This thesis falls into six parts.The first part introduces the background, the significance as well as the research technique and the content. The learners attend the network education called on the content should be reformed. And the Web-courses is the mainly method that network education content expresses itself. It is an urgent demand to design good Web-courses with strong practicability. This thesis studies the IA of Web-courses, aiming to enrich the Web-courses theory system, and solve the IA problems in it.The second part elaborates the basic IA content. IA has experienced the front network era and the network era. The different development phase has different description of IA. The domestic IA research area is limited in the informatics area, but the Web-courses have similarities with architecture, and the IA which developed from the architecture may instruct the design of Web-courses. The IA of Web-courses is the art and science which organizes the teaching content, designs the web teaching environment. It adjusts the Web-courses factors of information ecology circle in order to maintain the information ecological equilibrium. Thus it causes the student to be clear to the course content, and effectively enhances the teaching effect. The Web-courses design takes the information architecture of organization system and the navigation mechanism as the key point.This thesis'key points are in the third, four, five parts respectively.The third part brings forward the Web-courses'IA model from the information ecology angle. It also describes the general transmit process between the information architects and the learners. The design of Web-courses should observe the principle of facing the users, and give the students good user experiences, including the function experience, the technical experience and the esthetics experience. The design target is to satisfy the users'information needs, and fully support students' information behaviors. The Web-courses design should observe the principle that the content is the most important thing. And it should pay attention to the information element selecting and the information content organizing which help the students draw the concept chart more quickly. The Web-courses design should obey the principle of emphasizing design, namely carry on the good design to the information environment. A good Web-courses navigation mechanism will satisfy all the information behavior of learners.The fourth part studies the organization system of Web-courses which include the precise and fuzzy organizing scheme. The precise organizing scheme divides the information into incompatible category. The fuzzy organizing scheme stresses on the practical significance and the relevance. It supports the fuzzy information retrieval. The Web-courses organizational structure may divide into three forms such as the top-down structure, the bottom-up database model and the hypertext organizational structure. Each organizational structure has its own superiority and the inferiority. The best choice during the design is to choose these structures mutually. This chapter annotates how to use the organization scheme and the organization structure based on the .It should have a clear understanding to the Web-courses overall organization during the design.The fifth part studies navigation mechanism of the Web-courses. The Web-courses navigation mechanism is made up of the basic navigation and the assistant navigation. In the Web-courses the learners could use at present, the basic navigation design is better than the assistant. Many assistant organization have no concrete application, but these assistance navigation actually play a driving, guiding,helping role in the learners'study process. This chapter describes the method that the basic navigation and the assistant navigation could use in the Web-courses of < Network Course of Mechanical Basic Experiment >, which provided the practicable scheme for the design of Web-courses.The sixth part summarizes the production and innovation of the thesis as well as the prospect of IA in the educational technology domain. Along with the further developing of Web-courses, the theory and the practice of IA will enrich and develop further.
