As human capital investment, education generates returns to the educated; however, education economics is based on the assumption that the educated can find suitable jobs after graduation. In recent years, along with the expanding college enrollment, there are rapidly increasing employment pressures and more people are applying for the fewer positions. This situation is particularly reflected in the sports graduates. In the light of research on job hunting from the perspective of sociology, this thesis targets at the study the influences of human capital and social capital on the outcomes of college graduates'job hunting; meanwhile, it applies human capital and social capital to the field of job hunting for the sports graduates. This thesis defines human capital as the many factors such as knowledge, skills, capacities and quality which have been generated through education investment in college graduates of sports and transforms human capital which the graduates possess as specific indexes, like their political status, major, English grade, computer grade, referee grade, athlete grade, Putonghua grade, their scores in school sand number of winning scholarships and awards. In the meantime, this thesis defines social capital as the aggregate social resources of college graduates of sports, which are available in social network and converts social capital as specific indexes, like the network size, network density, network diversity, the occupational prestige scores and unit reputation scores of those who help the graduates seek jobs. This thesis makes use of the statistical method of logistic regression, establishes a regression model by taking the results of the graduates'job hunting as the function and treating the specific indexes transformed from human capital and social capital as the dependent variable, and makes an analysis. It turns out that among the variables of human capital and social capital, those that have a marked effect on the job-seeker are as follows: gender, political status, native place, major, English grade, athlete grade, student leader, number of winning scholarships and awards, network size, network density, number of vocations, occupational prestige scores, number of units and unit reputation scores. According to the influences on job-hunting, the following order can be seen, that is, major, political status, English grade, student leader, gender, native place, number of units, unit reputation scores, athlete grade, number of vocations, number of winning scholarships and awards, occupational prestige scores, network density and network size.To sum up, first of all, human capital plays a key role whereas social capital plays a complementary part during the job-hunting process of sports college graduates. The two are intertwined; together they affect the job-seeking results of Besides, among the human capital variables, political status, native place, major, athlete grade, student leader, number of winning scholarships, awards and English grade have a marked effect on sports college graduates'job-hunting. Furthermore, among the social capital variables, network size, network density, number of vocations, unit reputation scores, number of units and occupational prestige scores have a marked effect on the job seeking of sports college graduates. In response to the conclusions, this thesis puts forward the next specific suggestion. In the first place, the government should create a better employment environment for sports graduates. Specifically, economy must be developed strongly to absorb more sports graduates; college graduates market must be enhanced vigorously to gradually improve the job market; job market intermediary organizations must continue to be improved continuously. In the second place, colleges or their sports schools should take more positive measures in personnel training and employment guidance. Specifically speaking, they must increase courses to cultivate versatile talents and concentrate on developing students'practical ability. For the meantime, with employment as the orientation, they must readjust major structure and personnel training model, strengthen employment education and construct a chain of employment, career choice and venture. In the third place, graduates themselves should also accumulate as much human and social capital as possible in college. This thesis chooses the influences of the specific indexes transformed from human and social capital on sports college graduates as the subject, which has great significance. Theoretically speaking, the thesis systematically analyzes the effects of human and social capital on the job hunting of sports majors in Changchun colleges and universities, which fills the blanks of empirical research and the large numbers of effective data offer original data for future related study. In a practical sense, in compliance with data derived from empirical study, this thesis believes that colleges and universities should be in line with the demands of the society and market, define the direction and personnel training requirements and take appropriate measures to create a favorable employment environment, which contributes to the timely and full employment of sports graduates in colleges and universities.
