Basing on previous researches, this article builds an analyzing framework of strategy-organize/behavior-influence for joint-research centers with TNCs in Chinese universities. With the first hand data and information collected from pilot-survey and in-field interview of Chinese researchers in joint-research centers with TNCs in Chinese universities, this article describes the distribution of structure factors in these joint-research centers samples, such as location, human-resources, fund scale and so on. Using the methods of factor analysis, cluster analysis and ANOVA analysis, this article identifies the characters of these joint-research centers, including strategic type, cooperation behaviors, organizational activities, knowledge transfer and so on. Then this article discusses the internal mechanism of these characters. Finally, based on the in-depth cases analysis on four joint-research centers of different types, the paper discusses the joint research centers'influence on the independent innovation capability of Chinese universities.On the strategic level, according to the valuation of different strategic goals, these joint research centers can be divided into four different strategic types: fund seeking, knowledge and fund seeking, network resources seeking and general. The structural factors of the university have obvious impact on the strategic choice of these joint research centers while those of the TNC's don't.On the behavior and organizational level, the most frequent behaviors of these joint research centers are fundmental researching, opening courses, training graduate students and offering technological traing. Trading of IPR and other profitable activies are still rare. And the level of knowledge activies is generally high. During the cooperation between TNCs and chinese universities, the knowledge transfer is a two way activity, some of which is getting deeper. We can see a obvious influence of strategic type on the behaviors and structure factor of these joint research centers.On the influence level, joint research centers'influence on the independent innovation capability of Chinese universities is obvious, which can be found on the human resources, knowledge creation and flowing and so on.
