To master learning methods is a brand-new concept in contemporary education. In the course of learning activities, learners should make practical planning, define the purpose of learning and choose scientific learning methods in line with their own physiological and psychological characteristics. Thus, to master learning methods is far more important to acquire knowledge. For a long time, traditional chemistry education has attached great importance to the inquiry into teaching procedures and methods while neglected the inquiry into learning procedures and methods. It separates the unity of teaching and learning formed in interactive activities between teachers and students, making it difficult to coordinate chemistry teaching activities and unfavorable to give scope to students' initiative and creativity. Modem chemistry teaching should not only value teachers' teaching procedures and methods but also students' learning methods by cultivating their ability to analyze and solve concrete problems independently and by making the most of students' initiative in teaching activities so as to improve the quality of chemistry teaching. Hence, the inquiry into chemistry teaching methods has become an important and hot topic in chemistry education and research.Learning activities should be designed and carried out in the light of the characteristics of middle school students to make the activities conducted effectively. The First Part of this thesis examines the purpose and significance of inquiry into learning methods introducing the background of this article, the present situation both at home and abroad and problems relating to senior chemistry teaching. The second part explores the theoretical base of leaning methods. The Third part is about learning methods under the new standards of curriculum will concrete cases. The fourth part lays emphasis on the summary of teaching practices in chemistry.
