Survey And Strategy Research On Middle School Students' Interest In Chemistry

Interest in chemistry study is learners' special cognitive tendency towards chemistry science and intentional activities in which learners try to understand chemical substances, obstain knowledge and experience related to chemistry science and at the same time they are in some kind of mood.After making a survey of some students in middle schools I find :1. At present middle school students' interest in chemistry are generally low.and there is no obvious difference of interest in chemistry between key schools and ordinary schools.2. There is obvious difference of interest in chemistry between boys and girls.The boys' interest and attitude is obviously higher than the girls' .3. There is "one climax(Junior3) and two smaller climaxes" of interest and attitude from Junior 3to Senior 3. The valley is in Senior 2, during which the students' interest in chemistry is lost.After analyzing these facts I think that the situation is caused by :1. At present there are not enough chemistry experiments.2. In current chemistry teaching ,the teaching of theory is so emphasized on and the demand is so high that the students realize that chemistry is hard to study .Theyare afraid of chemistry science and then they do not want to study further.3. The teaching level of teachers have an effect on students' interest and attitude.4. The heavy work burden and the study for entrance examination makes it impossible for students to improve their interest in chemistry.From the statesments above and my own experience of chemistry teaching I would like to give four basic rules and seven pieces of advice on how to improve students' interest in chemistry.
