The Present Status Of Environmental Consciousness Of High School Students In Shizhu County And The Research Of School-base Curriculum Development Of Environmental Education

The improvement of environmental consciousness is related to the future continuable development of the whole world, and the key to do it lies in environmental education. Shizhu Tujia Folk self-governing county lies in the centre zone of three gorges reservoir areas and was the only minority self-governing county in this area, so, to investigate and research the environmental consciousness of high school students in Shizhu County, and to develop local school-base curriculum of environmental education in order to improve the environmental consciousness of high school students in Shizhu County, is important and have practical and far-reaching historical meanings for the construction and protection of entironment and continuable development.By picking up the domestic literature about investigation and research of environmental consciousness from 1990 to 2004, and referencing the questionnaire of environmental consciousness for Chinese high school students, We investigate, analyze and research the present status of the environmental consciousness of high school students in Shizhu County, from which we found that the level of environmental consciousness is low and the acknowledge is unilateral. The reason might be ascribed to the fact that so little attention was paid to environmental education in school that no one kind of existing textbook was used and no plan or task was put in curriculum plan of school.According to the reason that leading to the low level of environmental consciousness of high school students in Shizhu County, combining local educational level, economic developing conditions and the folk's character etc., we think that it is feasible to improve local environmental education by developing school-base curriculum adapted to Shizhu County's environmental education.
