In recent years, with the social demand of foreign language and persons of knowing foreign languages, the reformation of English education has greatly developed and new English teaching methods have come out. Though many English teaching reformations have been carried out constantly, there remain many problems in English elementary education. The most outstanding problem is the dislocation of the students and the teacher- the teacher is the center of a teaching course. The central role of the students is ignored. The importance of forming the students' knowledge system and training the students' ability of creation and practice is neglected. How to get the students to form the learning strategy by themselves, how to form their knowledge frame by themselves, how to enrich their experience, how to develop themselves, how to get the students to get the ability of creation and practice, etc. seem to be far away from our classroom teaching. The single and passive learning method of the students makes them have a narrow knowledge and single knowledge construction. Their communication ability is weak and they don't have the ability of creation and practice. This can't satisfy the need of the knowledge people of the fast-developing society."The English Project-based Learning" is a new study and also a new teaching method. Its main connotation is: The students are the subjects of learning; its aim is fostering the student's consciousness of research and stimulating the students' initiative and creativity; its content is letting the students get knowledge by experiencing and using the knowledge. Its purpose is to get the students to cooperate in study and develop the students' initiative, creativity and exploratory ability by "the English Project-based Learning". So "the English Project-based Learning" has great advantage in solving the problems of English learning and teaching, changing the students learning method, training the students' ability of creation and practice. "The English Project-based Learning" has been experimented and spread successfully in some highly-developed areas such as Shanghai and Jiangsu Province. But now this experiment is carried out in the very remote countryside, whether can "the English Project-based Learning" also solve the problems in English teaching and learning? Is this method also suitable for a remote countryside school? Can it improve the students' ability of creation and practice? So the researcher's aim of doing this study. A Study of the Experiment of English Project-based Learning in Yongchang No. 1 High School is to prove that "the English Project-based Learning" can change the "Teacher-center" learning method, can improve the students' interest of English learning, enlarge the students' English knowledge and improve the students' English proficiency and by this study the students can learn how to learn, to think, and they can learn to experiencing and cooperating.This study is based on the theory of Multiple Intelligence raised by Howard Gardner and the theory of Cooperative Learning raised by Waston, J.B. According to the Theory of Multiple Intelligence, human being has multiple intelligences, these intelligences are dependent and related with each other and also separate from each other. The theory of Multiple Intelligence tells us that these intelligences don't develop forward together. "The English Project-based Learning " gives the students a free space to study independently, creatively and explosively in order to develop their different intelligence and especially latent intelligence. Its main purpose of the theory of Cooperative Learning is to encourage the students to cooperate in study in order to get the students to communicate each other and develop their ability together and also get the students and the teachers to learn from each other and develop together. According to the theory of "the English Project-based Learning", "the English Project-based Learning" is a kind of cooperative learning it needs more discussion, exploration and cooperation. So, "the English Project-based Learning" is based on the theory of Multiple Intelligence and the theory of Cooperative Learning.The experimental method is used in this research. By carrying out "the English Project-based Learning" course in two Experimental classes from Senior one, and the analyzing of the data, questionnaire, investigation and the score of the students the thesis comes the conclusion: "the English Project-based Learning" can improve the students' tests scores, improve the students' interest of English learning, enlarge the students' English knowledge and improve the students' English proficiency and by this study the students can learn how to learn, to think, and they can learn to experiencing and cooperating. These are proved by statistics of the students' tests marks and are shown in students' reports and papers on "the English Project-based Learning".This thesis contains the Content, Announcement of Original Creation, English Abstract, Chinese Abstract and main body of the thesis. The main body contains Introduction of putting forward the problem, Purpose and significance of the study, Literature review, Rationale for this study, the present study, Implications and limitation. Experimental method is the main method of this study. Questionnaire investigation method and statistics method are also used in this study.
