A Research Into The Justice Of The Enrollment System In China's Colleges And Universities

The core of educational justice lies in the fair starting-point for educational opportunities. The pursuit of justice in education is the basic requirement for the development of society as a whole and of human beings as individuals. The realization of educational justice demands a balanced development in education, an effective legal guarantee system and a sustained improvement in the enrollment system. To promote justice in education is to eliminate negative effects caused by regional divergences and differences in sex, race and social status, and to provide everyone with a fair opportunity for basic education.Justice in education is a driving force for the reform of the educational system. To extend educational fairness in the enrollment system is to strive for a fair starting-point, to eradicate unfair restrictions based on prejudice, ideological discrepancy or vested interest, to lay down fair and just rules and regulations, to reduce the degree of current injustice by adjusting present rules and regulations, to rectify the status quo of educational injustice, and above all to provide compensation in education opportunities for the socially disadvantaged classes or groups.After decades of reform and development, the enrollment system in China's colleges and universities has been notably improved in its fairness. The progress, however, has been slow and many problems still exist in meeting the demand of the construction of harmonious society, of the sustained social development and of the individual pursuit of educational justice. The objective causes for these problems are mainly the unfair allocation of educational resources, the "city-oriented" educational policy, the enlarged regional and class differences, and the existence of corruption in education.The reform of the enrollment system and the promotion of educational justice are a systematic project: all-round reforms must be carried out in the systems of examination, planning , enrollment, and administration. As the reform of the enrollment system is closely related to the development of national education, the stability of society and the personal interest of everyone, steady and secure measures must be taken.
