The new course in physics of senior high school, whose value orientation is centered upon students' all-round development, redefines the course objective based on integrating the theoretical value, methodological value and human value. It raises that we should foster students to develop their scientific literacy from the following aspects, which are knowledge and capacity, process and method, emotion, manner and values.We realize that implementing the plural value and objectives of the new course or not will need student assessment to examine and support. Through the survey of the theory of modern student assessment and reflection on the serious shortcomings in previous student evaluation in physics, this paper researches into the theoretical and practical questions of the development assessment advocated by the new course.There are five chapters in this article. In chapter one, advancing and meanings of the thesis, and interrelated development overseas and homeland are discussed. Chapter two simply introduces the formation and development of education evaluation. It also surveys the functions, types and models of modern student assessment. The third chapter and the fourth chapter are the key parts of this paper. In chapter three, based on introspecting the present situation of the student valuation in physics of our senior high school and analyzing the value orientation and objective of new course, we discuss the characters, theoretic foundation and basic principles of the development assessment. Chapter four probes into the question of carrying out assessment, which conclude the contents and criteria of assessment, methods of collecting information and operation procedure. Then several important relations in students assessment are discussed. In the fifth chapter, we discuss the theory and application ofthe two kinds of quality evaluations, which are performance assessment and portfolio assessment. In the end of this paper, the author concludes the writing achievements of this paper. The difficulties which it meets in practice and the prospects are also discussed.
