A Study On Relationship Among Employment Stressor, Coping Styles And Anxiety About Seniors In Changsha-area

The purpose of this article are : (1) to develop a questionnaire of employment stressor for seniors. (2) to analyse the situation of employment stressor, coping styles and anxiety. (3) to explore the relationship between employment stressor, coping styles and anxiety so as to provide theoretical foundation for the job of employment Counseling.The method of questionnaire survey was used in the study. The questionnaires, including Employment Stressor of Seniors, Coping Styles Inventory, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, were employed to investigate seniors in Changsha area. Factor analysis was used to explore seniors' employment stressor, ANOVA was used to analyse the situation of employment stressor, coping styles and anxiety and the linear structural relation model was employed to find out the relationship among employment stressor, coping styles and anxiety.The results showed: (1) The employment stressor came from employment guide of university, seniors themselves, social condition, the relative and friends, school and speciality, among which, emloyment guide of university was the main stressor. (2) There existed significant differences among colleges and sexes. College seniors' stress is higher than that of university seniors, and girls' stress is higher than that of boys. (3) The most important way of seniors' coping styles were problem solving and recourse. There hadn' t significant differences among different school, but it did among gender. (4)The seniors had higher anxiety than that of normal, There hadn' t significant differences of anxiety in gender, but had it in different school. (5) Employment stressorhad positive relationship with anxiety. Employment stressor had positive correlation with negative coping style and had negative correlation with positive coping style;positive coping style had negative correlation with anxiety, and negative coping style had positive correlation with anxiety. (6)Employment stressor made directly negative impact on anxiety. Coping styles worked as mediator between employment stressor and anxiety.
