The problem of elderly care for daily life in china is becoming striking, with the population aging and high aging developed, and with the family care capacity weakened. Because in the long time, the social security system for the aged has been striving to provide economic guarantee, but neglect service guarantee for old people, so that many old people get into the trouble of non-self-independence in daily life despite self-supporting in economic. This phenomenon puts forward an imperious request on establishing and improving a community care system for the aged as early as possible. This paper focuses its attention on the elderly community care system in urban areas. Staring with the daily life and caring state of urban senior citizens, the author try to explore the approach to solve the caring problem with dependence on urban community. The main content is illuminated in the following five chapters: In the first chapter, the author illustrates the background of this research, reviews the status of correlative research, refers to the general situation of samples and the source of data, and states the primary methods applied. In addition, the chapter defines some key concepts. In the second chapter, basing on the investigation statistics, the author describes the states of daily life and care of urban old persons, then evaluates their demand for daily life care, their use of community care and the gap between demand and supply in care service, aiming to expose the significant problems in daily life and community care of urban senior citizens. In the third chapter, the author brings forward three essential principles on the establishment of the elderly community care system in urban areas, which consists of orientation to the aged, reliance on community and mutual assistance. Besides, the preliminary assumption of the basic frame of urban community care system is brought up. That is, according to the health of old persons, the system can approximately be divided into two subsystems, including the "at-home"community care subsystem, and the institutional community care subsystem. In the forth chapter, the author discusses the idiographic strategy of improving the elderly community care system in urban areas, more emphasizes on how to fully dig up "out-of-family"caring resources to overcome the difficulties of caring for urban old people. At the same time, the author proposes the corresponding countermeasures on how to regulate the community care system, how to adjust the functions of the institutional community care subsystem, and how to provide preferential care to disadvantaged old population, so that the community care system can well enough satisfy the daily life care demand of old people in urban areas. In the fifth chapter, the author points out the conclusion and deficiencies in this research, and mentions several problems waiting for further consideration and discussion.
