Being an important part in a text book, pictures have an outstanding effect on the study of the school children. The fact that there exist problems in the present textbook editing and examining management and that the issue about the text pictures have been overlooked results in an imcomplete text picture management system, which affects its artistry , severity and standadized textbooks should have as modals. Taking the junior Chinese textbook as an example, this paper analyzes the present situation of the Chinese textbook pictures, raises the problems and its solution for the application and editing management.Being short of the research and reference books in this field, the author has conducted a lot of questionaires and interviews. The reform of the picture editing management has been expounded , which is based on the combination of the questions to the students and teachers and the interviews to the relevant departments and persons in textbook publishing house and the reform of the textbook system.The paper consists of four parts: preface; the history of the middle school Chinese textbook picture and the summary of related reference books; the analyses on the present situation of the textbook picture and editing management; the countermeasures to build up the textbook editing and examining management system.The first part is concerned about the problem to be raised , the content to be researched and the method to be applied. The irrational problem in picture editing and examining has found by Professor zhangling, the tutor of the author, while doing her research and the problem the author has found whiling teaching Chinese have been raised up. The function of the middle school Chinese textbook pictures has also been covered to illustrate the necessity of the picture editing and examining management as to the middle school Chinese textbooks.Some view and the matters researched by the others since the beginning of the textbook pictures have been enumerated in the second part. All those researches centred only on the function and shortage of the textbook picture without covering the picture editing management.The third part is mainly about the analyses on the present situation of the textbook picture and editing management based on the questionaires and interviews. The students , teachers and editors' view on these problems has been respectively listed.Combining the reform of textbooks system, the attempt to build up a complete picture editing management system has been illustrated. It includes the detailed issues such as how to edit and examine, the practice of settng up the bank of national textbook picture materials, the making of the law and regulation of the textbook editing and the solution to the inappropriate practice of taking out of the pictures to reduce the cost, the suggestions on solving the cost and more importantly, dealing well with the feedback of the textbook picture commenting. All these will get the picture editing management into a virtuous circle.
