This paper first investigates half-term Chinese language test paper of students in Zhong Shan senior middle school by statistics. The test was administrated by Nanjing Education Authority. I analysis the reading part in the test paper and conclude that these students do not have good sensibility to Chinese language, they have poor ability on discerning and selecting useful information, poor ability on generalization and summaries, lack of the ability of appreciation.I investigate the activity, independence, thought and creativity of students in Zhong Shan middle school by questionnaire. The conclusion is that these students can not enjoy reading ,so they neither like to read nor have initiative to read independently; they can not consider the content from different angles while reading and they can not appreciate and judge what they are reading because of their slow thinking and insensibility.The questionnaire also investigates reading' s incentive, volition and habit of these students and concludes that these students do not have good reading habits (active reading' s incentive and continuous reading' s volition, their teachers do not make them become the most important participant of teaching activity and simplify the teaching procedure of reading and fail in imparting beneficial reading skills to them.I bring forward a few approaches to solve the foregoing problems. They are: in order to improve reading' s incentive of students, we should make students understand the importance of reading and make students read by encouragement and punishment and give students enough chances to read. In order to improve reading's volition, teachers should change students' reading content from amusement to classic. I also advance some approaches to cultivate good reading habits of students and how to make them become the most important participant of teaching activity and improve the efficiency of reading. How to actualize these approaches is dicussed.The author gives the assessment of these approaches, including Standard and methods of the assessment, which will strengthen the operation of these approaches.
