Based on the open ended questionnaire and interviews, and the analysis of the literature pertinent ,the dimensions of the difference of values between middle school students and their parents in Chongqing are constructed .From this aspect of the difference of values, middle school students' values preliminary questionnaire are compiled . According to the consequence of the study by the preliminary questionnaire, we improve the theory and frame ,work out the formal scale and test out the reliability and validity .Then we probe into the values characteristics of middle school students and values' different characteristics between Chongqing middle school students and their parents in Chongqing with formal scale.The main results of this study are as follows:(1)The self-made scale has high reliability and fair validity .By the factor analysis,six major dimensions are obtained: learning, family,self-orientation interpersonal ,expenditure , recreation.(2)The values characteristics of middle school students and values' different characteristics between middle school students and their parents in Chongqing are summarized through scale survey.(3) The values characteristics of middle school students in Chongqing:(1)The study shows that the middle school students in Chongqing most lionizesub-factor of family circumstances and most lionize main-factor of self-orientation.(5) The gender and grade differences of the middle school students in Chongqing arestatistically significant.The six sub-factors such as the value of knowledge,family circumstance ,equality, private, the interpersonal attitude ,the supporting to recreation and three main-factors such as learning ,family ,self-orientation are statistically significant in gender. Female students overstep male students and more lionize the value of knowledge,family circumstance ,equality, private.The eleven sub-factors such as learning goal and mode,the value of knowledge .cultural manner ,family responsibility, equality, private independence, the attitude of consorting friends, the supporting and selection to recreation and four main-factors such as family ,self-orientation, interpersonal, expenditure are statistically significant in grade. With respect to three sub-factors such as the learning mode ,private , the selection to recreation, students' mean enhances with the accretion of grade. Furthermore,middle school students' values tend to stability with the accretion of grade.(5) The interactions are statistically significant between gender and school zone infamily dimension ,school type and school zone in four sub-factors such as cultural mode family responsibility, independence and the attitude of consorting friends, gender and grade in two sub-factors such as independence, equality and main-factor of self-orientation.(4) Fathers' employment influence on the students' attitude to familycircumstance,independence and the supporting to recreation are statistically significant. Mother's employment' effect in equality and the selection to recreation is statistically significant.(4)Values' different characteristics between middle school students and their parents in Chongqing:(T) In sub-factors, the middle school students most lionize family circumstances,equality,independence and private but their parents most lionize family circumstances, family responsibility , equality and the value of knowledge.
