"Inquiry teaching" is a kind of teaching (learning) method that "the leading roles in class are students", which bases on the constructivism theory. And it focuses on cultivating creative minds and practice abilities of students. History is a compulsory subject in normal school, and it's important in educational function. How to optimize the history teaching method and make it produce active influences on students, and to improve the effect on history learning of students? In this paper, the author explained the theory of Inquiry teaching and put forward the appropriate teaching strategies for the regional practice, according to the traits of history and the problems on history teaching. Which include: choosing questions, collecting materials; guiding new lessons, catching key problems; discussing and exchanging, making conclusions; inquiry consternating, forming comments. Instructed by the strategies, we had a Inquiry teaching experiment for a term (2004.9—2005.1), and got some results. The main conclusions are:Ⅰ. Inquiry teaching is beneficial to encourage the students' interests on history learning in Normal SchoolⅡ. Inquiry teaching enhances helpfully the students' self-consciousness on history learning in Normal SchoolⅢ.
