In recent years, aim at the problems, such as, sluggish urbanization, three-peasant problem and the deficiency of inner demand , the study of peasants' citizenization has emerged., the study deals with the institutional obstacles of the citizenization of peasants, the further problems of identity alteration, part alteration and the change of lifestyle. In such a background, I choose the citizenization of the peasants in the suburban area of Shanghai. In my thesis the terms of peasant, citizen and the peasants' are sorted out, and the terms of leaving agricultural areas and migrating to urban areas, identity alteration and continual socialization as the basis to analysis citizenization of peasants. The thesis is divided into 3 parts. In part 1, peasants' migration to urban areas is divided into 3 folds. One is the non-agriculturist migration to urban areas, one is individual peasants' migration to urban areas and landless peasants' migration to urban areas. Linking with the situation of Changjiang Village, all the problem will be discussed further. In part 2, the definition of identity alteration includes the transition from peasants' identity to citizens' identity in the sense of household register. From the angle of institutional transition, the founding of household register system is analyzed. And, I think the aim of this system is the government defines the sphere of social resource re-distribution by controlling people's migration and made benefits and identity fixed. And then, the institutional arrangements linking to the household register system and the institutional arrangements of changing the peasants' identity to citizenship are introduced. And then, the separation of benefits and identity doesn't changed the benefit equality among peasants, peasants-would be and citizens. At the end, citizenship should enjoy equal civil benefits is reached. In part 3, from the angle of the change of social environment, occupational migration and the change of parts, the continualsocialization in the process of citizenization of the peasants. The main conclusion is the separation of benefits and identity effects the identity of citizenship and the acting of the role of citizenship, and effects the continual socialization and citizenization further.
