Foreign language teaching has become the focus in Education in China. Enormous work has been done by the scholars and teachers in the field. Now more and more teachers in the field are adopting the advanced teaching methods in their teaching practice and paying special attention to the outcome of their teaching. Yet some teachers still follow the traditional ways. They believe that the reform in foreign language teaching is to use the Communicative Approach only; or a new teaching strategy must be based on one theory, not two or more, so as to be different from other strategies or theories.Reform in the teaching of foreign languages is popular in the elementary, junior high and senor high schools in China. But in the vocational schools, especially the newly emerged Higher Vocational Schools, which have their special aims and special rules to follow, research in the foreign languages teaching is rather limited. The research is done among the students (Associate degree and Specialized degree). in Higher Vocational School, Liaoning University of Petroleum &Technology, (the former Fushun Mining School), with the aim to find a new way and provide reference in the education and reform in the English language teaching in vocational high schools. The research is based on national and international researches and educational theories, combined with the Tenth-five-year Plan of the Foreign Languages Teaching and Research Center and the national syllabuses, with scientific analyses, macro and micro thinking, tactical and strategic practice, so as to make the mold of teaching representative. The research follows the following principles:1. Practicality2. SuitabilityThe thesis is composed of six parts.
