The main purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between campus culture and employee job satisfaction in universities from an organizational theory perspective. Also, it tried to set up the culture type model of job satisfaction, which could be used to guide practical work.The study design mainly employed quantitative method, applying qualitative method as an assistant. First, the campus culture and employee job satisfaction questionnaire was compiled after literature review, open-ended questionnaire investigation and in-depth interviews. The questionnaire was used as the measuring instrument of this study. In the study, 393 current employees including teachers and administrators from Tsinghua University and Peking University were recruited through purposive sampling and stratified random sampling. The results indicated that 62.1 percent of participants had high perception of campus culture and 63.3 percent of participants were satisfied with their work. Strong relationship between campus culture and employee job satisfaction was suggested in this study. Also, results indicated that both hierarchical team culture type and innovative team culture type exerted positive effects on employee job satisfaction. Based on these results, culture type model of job satisfaction was put forward. The model suggested that the campus culture type had great influence on employee job satisfaction. Campus culture based on "harmony" could improve employee job satisfaction efficiently.The study had some theoretical and practical contribution. The study advanced the culture type model that pioneered a new field for research on job satisfaction. The study explored a new idea of studying campus culture since it explained the campus culture from the organizational culture perspective. The study enriched the organizational theory because its results would be used for reference to other types of organizations. At last, some advices on building campus culture were given. "Harmony" should be the core part in building campus culture. Innovation should be encouraged and hierarchical mechanism should be moderately reserved on the base of harmony.
