With the time going and the science and technology developing, the life of human being has been improving step by step. In many countries including China, the population of aged people is increasing. The appropriate exercise for the aged will prevent them from senescence and diseases, and also give them a new lease of life. Now, how to improve the aged health and fitness has been one of important research programs in sports field. DAOYIN YANGSHENG Gong that was well organized combination of Chinese traditional Daoyin and Yangsheng practices, is indicated for health-keeping, prevention and cure of some diseases such as hypertension, coronary heart disease and other chronic diseases. A systematic study was carried out, therefore, to observe the effect of chronic DAOYIN YANGSHENG GONG work-out on cardiovascular system, body composition and fitness of aged women with different research methods, and try to find its mechanism of effectiveness. This study was conducted for providing the aged exercise with much more theories foundation.The results indicated as the following. (1)In one set of SHUXIN PINGXUE GONG, the average maximal heart rate and heart rate for Group Daoyin were at 106 beats/min and 93±8 beats/min, which belongs to the mid-low intensity aerobic exercise, very fits for old women. (2) Chronic DAOYIN YANGSHENG GONG exercise decreased the heart rate and blood pressure, and increased the heart functional capacity, which would benefit the aged hearts.(3) Long term exercise of DAOYIN YANGSHENG GONG improved the aged fitness such as flexibility, balance, reaction speed and coordination of nerves and muscles.(4) There was no evidence for DAOYIN YANGSHENG GONG to build the hand and back muscles, increase bone minerals and decrease body fat.Thus, it was advised to track the exercisers on body fat, muscle strength and bone minerals before and after a long period exercising. It was be better that the aged women should attend some more aerobic exercise of higher intensity like aerobic dancing and long running except DAOYIN YANGSHENG GONG, to increase muscle strength and bone minerals and low down body fat, and realize general health and wellness of aged women.
