Since the end of the 20th Century, postgraduate education in China has started a new era of rapid development. For the time being, the focus is on how to keep stabile improvement of the education quality with the growth of student enrollment. The relationship between quality and quantity has been discussed in the thesis, and the harmony development of teaching, scientific research, and social service has been explored. Analysis of factors effecting on the quality of postgraduate education has been made from the point of view of assignment statistics. After that, corresponding strategies and suggestions are proposed for the improvement of postgraduate education by using the successful experiences of other countries for reference.Firstly, an overall evaluation on the current status of the quality of postgraduate education in China has been done in the thesis. The author proposed that the quality should be investigated according to the satisfactions from the following three aspects, i.e. student, university and the society. By taking the three aspects into consideration, the questionnaire is designed and the series activities of ' talk on postgraduate education' have been held. Overall evaluation has been made based on the questionnaire.Then, positive analysis has been conducted on the factors, which may affect the postgraduate education quality. As a result, effect factors can be found at each level of the three aspects. But, the effect factors from the social aspect are more complicated and represented by the feedbacks and improved indirectly through the student and the university. Therefore, analysis in the thesis is mainly conducted from the aspects of the student and the university.Furthermore, postgraduate education systems and programs are compared between developed countries and China. Through analyzing the diversity causes between them, some experiences are summarized to assure quality of postgraduate education in China.Finally, from the point of student, university and social demand, some measures are put forward purposively to improve and retain the quality of postgraduate education.
