Basic educational courses improvement is required to change the traditional teaching mode that centers on teachers. Commence to proceed the teaching research from the teaching mode is the main direction of education reform in recent years. Any producing of teaching mode has its own background, practical demanding, theoretical foundation and objective material conditions. "Teaching mode of independent study" in biology that author constructs comes from this situation.On the basis of deeply understanding the theory of construction, this paper mainly discusses the directive significance of the construction theory on the teaching mode of independent study in biology. Therefore, author constructs the teaching mode of independent study centering on the theory of construction. This mode was discussed for the purpose of the disadvantage of teaching mode. Its total teaching object is that: during the studying the construction about basic knowledge and basic skill in biology, leading students to take part in the procedure of teaching, constructing students' principal status, training students' ability on exploration the knowledge actively, researching and constructing all he (she) mastered the knowledge. So, it is useful to train students' principal consciousness, spirit of exploration and independent study habits, developing students' cognition element and uncognition element harmoniously. And it is the base of students' studying and working. Here is its procedure:Teachers'activity:innovating environments-instructing and directing-cooperating-training of removing-reflective adjustmentStudent's activity throwing actively in-independent exploration-construction of significance-innovating knowledge-self-controllingProcedure of cognition: preparation of cognition-forming cognition-deepening cognition-developing cognition-consummating cognitionStudents' development self-inspirement-self-construction-cooperation consciousness-self-improvement-self-appraisingThis basic procedure includes not only teachers' activity and students' activity, but also students' cognition procedure and students' developing procedure. It is the unity of teaching and hearing; the unity of learning and cognition; the unity of learning the knowledge, developing ability and personality. In order to test and verify the feasibility of this mode, author makes investigation on the teaching quality and some relative experiment and some experiment on teaching results. According to the experiment results and some problems occurred in the experiment, author makes discussion on five aspects. Firstly, Executing independent teaching mode affects students' consciousness as principal part. Secondly, Exercising independent teaching mode takes effect on students' interest in biology studying. Thirdly, Fulfilling independent teaching mode affects students' independent studying ability. Fourthly,. Implementing independent teaching mode affects students' academic record. Fifthly, Implementing independent teaching mode demands on teachers .Sixthly, Fulfilling independent teaching mode demands on students.
