Research On Xml-based Personalized Long-distance Learning System

The information ages, people put forward new demand to education. As a new teaching mode, the internet long-distance learning is highly anticipated. Compared with traditional methods of CAI. the learning based on Internet is not summit to restrict of spare-time, making lifelong education become possible. It matchs the need of modern person, hi recent years, its development is particularly fast.In this paper, we first make a overall analysis on the current situation and trend of the long-distance learning system of domestic and international. Secondly, setting out from the situation of the nation, we hold tightly the shortcomings of the current internet learning software, which widespreadly lack the "teach according to his ability", and put forward the further viewpoint from structure method and technique means. Our target is to enhance the "self-adapting and self-learning" ability of the long-distance learning system.We take the modern teaching theories as the guide and study several aspects in detail, such as the design of the network knowledge base .the teaching navigation arithmetic and the long-distance learning model, combining with the latest Web technique.In the personalized learning system, the knowledge's reasonable buildup and reprsentation is a key. The degree of its quality directly affect the system's intellectuality and functions of whole learning system. Current know ledge reprsentation model that is based on HTML exsits some lack. For making up these lack, we adopted the latest XML technique as the main toolso as to construct the courseware and knowledge unit. Our target is to enhance expandability, operability and reusability about knowledge descripation.In the teaching strategy aspect, with the design principle of the XML courseware tree, we further put forward the intellective navigation arithmetic. Using this artithmetic. we can dynamicly get proper knowledge list according to the construction of the knowledge tree, knowledge characteristic, the study circumstance and the programming samples which are given in advance.As to the teaching model , we build up the B/S long-distance learning model based on xml to make up with the lack of the current B/S three-layer model. such as the heavy load on the server, etc.To build up the personalized long-distance learning system is a probing of combining the latest network techniques and teaching methods. Although the system's functions need further perfect, the research for long-distance learning system should have some practical value and constructive meaning.
