A Discussion About Macau Government New Management Policy Of Private Schools--The School Fee Instruction Of Private Schools

Macau is now governed by Macaunese after handover to China. The working efficiency of the government departments is getting better while the demands of the public are also increasing. In the educational area, there are conflicts among the authorities, private schools and parents in terms of financial supports for the private schools. This study tries to elaborate upon the government new policy of school fees in the private education sector.The present economy of Macau gets worse after the 1998 financial storm. Some private schools demand parents to pay many extra fees without considering the social situation. It makes parents angry. At the same time, there are lots of problems in Macau's compulsory education. These make the conflicts among the authorities, private schools and parents come to the spotlight.The authorities try to control the private schools' fee in order to solve those conflicts, so that Macau Education and Youth Affairs Edpartment issued an instruction about the private schools' fee on 13th of February in 2001. It is used to control the situation of private schools' fee. However, there are lots of problems in the instruction so that there are a number of noises in the educational area.And I conclude the problems of the instruction to the following suggestions:1. Focus on the public inquiry, and perfect the legislative system.2. Improve the policy of educational investment, and perfect the compulsory education system.3. Develop the multi-courses of each private school.4. Set up a teachers' organization as soon as possible, to protect the welfare and professional statues of teachers.
