Academic procrastination is a kind of behavior that learners know what they should do and they are willing to do, but they can't finish the learning task within the schedule. Or it refers to a kind of emotional distress caused by the pressure that learners have a clear idea of their learning task and the deadline, but they unnecessarily delay the task.By reading a great amount of materials and research papers home and abroad, the author summarized her own research ideas and direction. She focused on the following aspects:First, she translated and revised the PASS (Procrastination Assessment Scale-Students), investigated the status of learning delays among college students in China, and analyzed the main reasons why Chinese students delay their study.Second, the author examined the college students'tendency on time management by using the Adolescence Time Management Disposition Scale. She analyzed how their time management ability affected academic procrastination.Third, the author intervened in the learning delays of two students by changing their ill cognition and improving their time management disposition.The results show as follow:First, nowadays students show a little delay in academic procrastination, but more than half of them are anxious to reduce the occurance of learning delay. Students in different year show different learning delay significantly, moreover, the situation quite differs between arts students and science students.Second, the factors of delay reasons, which impacts students' learning, include detesting the task, lack of self-confidence, the fear of failure and hesitation.Third, the freshmen and juniors show high quality in time management, while sophomores show low; students in science show higher than those in arts.Fourth, both the degree and the reasons of academic procrastination of college students show opposite tendency with the time management control. High delayers and lower delayers show the significant difference in time management tendency. From the dimension of the tendency, the author can predict the degree and reasons of academic procrastination. Fifth, students will reduce the occurance of the academic procrastination by the combination method of changing the ill cognition and improving time management disposition.
