As the development of higher education in our country,popularization has become an irreversible trend.With the promotion of "Quality and Teaching Reform Project for Undergraduate Education"(Quality of Project) in 2007,taking characteristics as winning strategy for universities has become a consensus. Characteristic major is the most significant feature for universities to build up their competition.If a university have a unique strength of the majors,it will be able to grow with vitality.Science Education Speciality was initiated in 2001 at the beginning of this new century aiming to undertakes the training of teachers who are engaged in integrated science courses in elementary and middle schools.For nearly a decade,more than 80 colleges and universities have established Science Education Speciality.National Joint Conference of Science Education Speciality Construction formed by more than 20 related universities has already held 5 meetings to discuss the profession construction of the major.Also,National Association for Science Education, the Chinese Society of Education (NASE) was established in 2009 for better development of this emerging pedagogical specialty.Some success have been brought, but in general,Science Education Major as a new-born discipline has no ready-made curriculum, thematerial and speciality criterion so far.Obviously,at present, Science Education Major of different universities is far too independent and differ from each other in many aspects,from training object to curriculum system.Science Education Major,in general, does not have much impact and distinction in the region at present.Under this condition,study on the speciality construction of this newly-established major is key problem for universities setting the speciality to promote the sustainable speciality development.It has important both theory and practice significances to probe into some questions and propose the solution strategy on special profession construction of this major.From the aim above,this article analyzed the special profession construction environment of Science Education Major of  Shanghai Normal University in terms of whole profession construction,in order to build a proper Shanghai feature reform plan or development program.From the aim above,this article first use literature analysis,summary and so on to analyze the related higher educational theory and educational reform policy,aim to provid profound theoretical basis theory and policy warranty.Then,use Case Studies to analyze the successful professional building experiences of the brand and featured majors of the other universities.Then,use questionnaire survey,interview and discussion to investgate present situation of science education of Shanghai Normal University.Finally,by means of SWOT analysis,the weakness and strenths of the internal world of Science Education Major of  Shanghai Normal University were estimated,and opportunities and threats from the external world of it were also ananyzed and distinguished.Through survey results and SWOT analysis,this paper put forward some countermeasure and advices on how to build a proper Shanghai feature reform plan or development program.for Science Education Major of  Shanghai Normal University.First,based on the analysis of socially desirable goal,talent needing and development needs.of the Science Education Major,fix the suitable position of running the subject,establish the aims of training program and build the the standard of the majo.Then,through literature analysis and summary on the related the standardization of curricular reconstruction of the specialising of teachers both at home and abroad,efforts should be made to promote the curriculum reform particularly in the following aspects: enlarge the area of general education courses,pioneer teaching-oriented education courses,strengthen the building of integrated science courses,improve the laboratory courses,modify hands-on training cours.Further,process improvements in the following aspects must be taken to highlight Shanghai features of Science Education Major of  Shanghai Normal University:to improve teaching staff quality,to constructe a science education professional website,to strengthen the bonds with courses of science in elementary and high schools and to improve employment adaptability of the students.
