Textbooks as the carrier of knowledge transferring, play an important role in teaching activities. A good textbook should not only fully implement the "Outline" and "Curriculum standards" requirements, but also in improving people's scientific literacy and the comprehensive development play a positive role. The content of newly published high school compulsory chemistry textbooks, which including the important theoretical knowledge in high school chemistry, is the concentration of the original textbooks. This paper, which is guidanced by the basic idea of the new curriculum, is in order to analyze the PEP compulsory textbook from the basic idea, learning content, learning columns, illustrations, experiments to exercises. The results indicate the research can seek a new perspective for the second edition textbook.The results show that PEP compulsory high school chemistry textbook, which reflects the "Outline" and "curriculum standards" requirement, will train students in scientific literacy and innovation as the focus of teaching. However, the content of textbooks, which are still have some areas for improvement, should take the level of acceptance of students into account. Overall, PEP compulsory high school chemistry textbook which has a good adaptability and maneuverability, is a good textbook.
