| The Biology Curriculum Standard of the Senior High School claims that the teaching should put emphasis on students' acquisition of learning experience and cultivation of interest, which requires teachers to make some appropriate changes on their teaching and provide students with chances to discuss and interact in class.The case method has a solid theoretical foundation, such as the learning theory of humanistic psychology, cognitive psychology and cooperative learning, as well as theory of modern information-processing and theory of constructivism. In the senior high school, the case method can link up theory with practice and match the new curriculum teaching philosophy.The author did researches on the case method from Sep. 2008 to July 2009 on the basis of the characteristics of biology. Adopting the case method, the experiments on two classes who are on the similar level had been conducted, and a workable case teaching model had been found out. From the perspective of the connection between the case method and the new curriculum, requirements to high school teachers, methods of collection, principle of complication and evaluation, the ways to make the case method workable had been suggested.The paper includs five parts:the problems and status quo of the case method, practical researches, teaching experiment, conclusion and reflection.The one-year practices show that if the case-base teaching is adopted in biology, the following results can be achieved. First, it can improve students' independent learning ability. Second, it can help increase their academic scores. Third, it can enhance their ability of analyzing and solving problems along with communication ability. Finally, it also promotes teacher's professional development. |
