As an important part of the higher education, the higher vocational education has contributed much to the national construction by training a great deal of high-quality technical application talents. The higher vocational graduates have become a very important part of the human resource and a main force of the Socialist modernization and a necessary force of the cross-century development. But with the rapid growth on the number of graduates and with the increasing growth speed, the contradiction between supply and demand became sharp, and many new problems appeared in the process of employment. As the place to apply knowledge, technique and social ethics, the higher vocational college should positively be the guide on the graduates'employment to help them get employed or pioneer work successfully. This has close relation to the social, economic development and the reform of the higher education system, as well as the vital interests of the vocational graduates and their parents. The main part of my thesis was in three parts:Part I: the concept, features and significance of the employment guidance in the higher vocational college. Employment is the process of the laborers'doing some kinds of work and then making certain income. It is the usual way for all the laborers to maintain life, to achieve their value and to contribute to the society. The employment guidance is to combine laborers and works by applying all kinds of services and guidance to the applicants on how to find a suitable job. The employment guidance in the college is to carry on directional education to the graduates on the professional consciousness, goals and ethics, in order to develop their professional quality and finally help them to do the career decision-making according to the social needs and its own characteristics. The higher vocational education is different in its training object, the technologists'talents, whose jobs are in the first line of production and business. The training of professional ability plays an important role in the higher vocational college. And the vocational graduates'employments are different from the normal college graduates. So the employment guidance in the vocational college should give more ideological, political education and social practice guidance, considering the vocational graduates'characteristics. There are three features in the vocational colleges'employment guidance: Direction, the first thing to do is to improve the employment ability by changing the wrong employment concept and direct them to the right way. Practical, besides getting employment knowledge and information, graduates should have all kinds of practical activities to test the learning theory and professional skills, so as to enhance the professional adaptability. Regional, the graduates are trained to satisfy the local needs, so their employment is limited in the local area.The significance of the vocational employment guidance is great: it helps to enhance the vocational students'ideological and moral standards; it helps to enhance the vocational students'employment ability; it helps on the higher vocational students' all-round development.Part II: the analysis on the current status of the higher vocational employment and the reasons of its problems. Based on large data collected by investigation, it can be inferred that there are many achievements in the some Vocational College's vocational employment, i.e. in the organization setups, the team construction, the personnel, the course construction, the Guidance and the feedback, and there are some problems, mainly because of the imperfect operation mechanism, the degree of specialization of the teachers, the biased ideological and political education, the incorrect employment orientation and less social participation, etc. Part III: the Reform ideas of the vocational employment. The first is to set up an efficient operation mechanism. There should be the core role of the college leadership, funding to the training of the faculty, the setups of the supervision mechanism and the perfection of the employment information platform. The second is to build a professional guidance faculty. The third is to establish an unbiased employment guidance idea. The techniques and morality are of the same importance, and the people-oriented education concept should be set up. The fourth is to personalize the guidance. Both the common groups'and the special groups'guidance should be personalized. The fifth is to win extensive social people from all walks of life's support. The outside experts'employment guidance, the enterprise human resources management personnel's communication and the supports from the parents should all be considered.
