Autonomy (independence) means one kind of cognitive and behavioral capabilities with the ability of oneself to achieve the corresponding reasonable goals. It is an important component of children's personality and sociality development. It is also a closely-watched research subject in developmental psychology, especially in child psychology. Family has the most direct impact on development of children, however, there is no definitive conclusion about the relationship between family culture and 4-year-old children's autonomy. In consequence, this study aims to act on a more in-depth discussion on the relationship between family behavior culture and children's autonomy.The first chapter systematically reviewed the significance of researching, conception and effect factors of independence. At the same time, it puts forward the concept of the family behavior culture and its elements. The second chapter describes the research methods. Questionnaires and experiments are combined. There are 800 parents of 3 to 6-year-old children are taken at random from Dalian and Yingkou city, who were sent out questionnaires, and the valid questionnaires are 642. After item analysis and exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis of the questionnaires, the structure of family behavior culture questionnaire can be drawn at last. The subjects of independent experiments are 32 four-year-old children taken at random, Then asked their parents to fill in the amended questionnaire of family behavior culture. Using SPSS16.0 and AMOS5.0 software to analyze the questionnaire and experimental data. Chapter III presents the related results about the structure of family behavior culture, and the relationship between each dimension of family behavior culture and autonomy and each dimension of autonomy as well. It also includes the different family behavior culture with different academic. Chapter IV fiestly discuss the structure of family behavior culture,, and how did the factors of family behavior culture affect children's autonomy. Chapter V puts forward some educational suggestions according to results of this study. Finally, it briefly summarizes the final conclusions of this study.The conclusions are as follows: (1) The structure of family behavior culture questionnaire are composed of parenting style, emotional link, action atmosphere, behavior habit, behavior rules and psychological atmosphere. Revised family culture questionnaire has high reliability and validity, and it can serve as a tool to measure 3 to 6-year-old children's family behavior culture; (2) Family behavior culture is significantly positively related to children's autonomy. Among that, there is the most significantly relationship between psychological atmosphere and the children's autonomy. There is also significantly relationship between action atmosphere and the self-assertion of children, as well as the emotional link; Parenting style is significantly positively related to the self-control and total score of autonomy of children; There is no significant correlation between the six factors of family behavior culture and children's self-reliance;There is no significantly relationship between behavior habit and children's autonomy and its various dimensions, as well as the behavior rules; (3) There are different types of family behavior culture between parents with different educational level.
