Autonomy is the desire and ability to achieve their reasonable goal by depending on one's own strengths, which consists three dimensions: self-reliance, self-assertion and self-control. For a long time, the scholars have done many researches into autonomy and found that family is one of the important factors that affects the children's autonomy, and by further study, foreign scholars found that family routines are significantly positively related to children's autonomy, especially children's self-control. China hasn't had relative study yet, so, this study want to explore the relationship between family routines and the 4-yeae-old children's autonomy, so as to enrich the theories of family routines and development of children's autonomy, and provide some practical guidance of family routines for children's parents.The research methods refer to questionnaire and experiment. Questionnaire is used in measuring family routines. 4-year-old children'mothers or fathers who are twice taken at random from Dalian are 600 and 500 respectively. Collecting valid questionnaires are 420 and 384 respectively, which are used in revising family routines questionnaire. Experiment is used in measuring the level of children's autonomy. 33 four-year-old children who are taken at random from Dalian city are engaged in the experiment of autonomy. Mothers or fathers of participants of the experiment are requested to fill out the revised family routines questionnaires. Finally, the relationship between family routines and children's autonomy will be treated with correlative analysis.The results of this study show that: 1. Revised family routines questionnaire has higher reliability and validity, which can serve as a tool to measure family routines. 2. The total score of family routines is significantly positively correlated with the total score of autonomy, self-reliance, self-assertion and self-control of the 4-year-old children. 3. There are significant differences of the child is care by whom for total score of family routines, family routines of the child's education, family routines of leisure, family routines of celebrated day. 4. There are significant differences of the different type of mother's occupation for total score of family routines, family routines of the child's education and family routines of leisure; but on significant differences of the family routines of celebrated day and the routines of extended family. 5. There are significant differences of the different level of education of father for total score of family routines, family routines of the child's education, family routines of leisure and family routines of celebrated day; but on significant differences of the routines of extended family. 6. There are significant differences of the different level of education of mother for total score of family routines, family routines of the child's education, family routines of leisure and family routines of celebrated day; but on significant differences of the routines of extended family.
