Study On The Eulogy's Function Of Patriotism Education In The New Era

During the 60th founding anniversary of the People's Republic, the General Office of the CPC Central Committee repeated "The Proposal" which issued by the Central Propaganda Department and requested to carry out mass education on patriotism thoroughly in the nation-wide. In the proposal, it's pointed out that patriotism education has great significance in the stimulation of patriotic enthusiasm, the inspiration of national spirit, the enhancement of confidence in the conquest of difficulties, the cohesion of all the people's strength, the promotion of sound and rapid development of the national economy, the advancement in reform and opening up and socialist modernization construction.Now, these mass singing activities of which most contents related to the praise of our great motherland, the Communist Party, socialism, reform and open policies, come to a climax all around the country. It turned out that those beneficial activities highlighted the theme of the society and brought its function of patriotism education into full play.In order to summarize the experience of singing in praise and take advantages of its functions, it's very important and practical to study the eulogies which created in the latter 30 years of reform and opening up.This paper is divided into three parts. Firstly, it demonstrates that eulogy is the source of ideological and political education from its essential characteristics, the development of ancient music education in Chinese and foreign history, and the development of eulogy in different periods after New China founded. Secondly, it analyzes its specific performance of its function of patriotism education and sums up three major functions. They are:cognition, cultivation, ideological cohesion. Thirdly, it explains the significance of enhancing its function of patriotism education and proposes five specific measures which are raising the creation of eulogy, improving the performing capabilities of artistes, fostering the musical virtue of the masses, broadening the way of diffusion and developing extensive mass entertainment.
