Social Capital Integration Of Security In University And Social Mobility

There has been never a unique group as rural migrant workers who attract attention from society. Their mobility has become great concern of the society. In contemporary society, people will take into account the industry that they are going to employ might change themselves. For security guards, they do not have any job skills accumulation, no job skills and experiences, lacking of job promotion, and wages and occupational prestige have not increased where they employed. From the perspectives of economic, it does not explain why this group of people chose this career, but there much have special reasons. Thus, this dissertation will try to explore and discuss. From the investigation and research, the author finds that the security guards who work at universities wish to gain new social capital; for instance, improving their qualifications; on the other hand, satisfied for the working environment at universities, which might be the reason for them to choose this career. Based on the studies of social capital perspectives, this paper concludes from the point of view of profession and social capitals that the security personals obtain new capitals in their new jobs, and then go on a new social mobility according to what they have obtained.The chapter one and two are the introduction part of the dissertation, which will makes description on the research questions, actuality of the study on social capitals and social mobility, study content and study methods. The author uses the method of individual interview on the university security guards. The chapter three is going to talk about the current situation of security staff in universities. In this chapter, the author states some basic information, such as the security personnel's age, gender, marriages, education, and so on. The chapter four shows the analysis of acquisitions of security capitals. This part analyzes security guards have got some new capitals in their jobs which are shown as the following: comfortable working environment, the symbol sense of professional security, enhancing certification. Improving certification has played an important role in their social mobility. The chapter five shows the influence of capita social on the mobility of security guards. Under the influence of the situation of obtaining capital access, the mobility has shown three kinds of patterns: stagnation pattern, upward mobility pattern, and transitional flow pattern.Based on all the analysis, the author promotes some solutions such as employment policy and social rationality for rural migrant workers'mobility.
