In 1990s with the second wave of reformation and opening up,there showed up a new middle class at Chinese metropolises. They need some culture symbols to express themselves and their class, to separate them from other social class and show their own social position, under the push of country saying "modernization", the news paper and magazines whose words full of the air of consumption which most not only attract a lot of middle class members but also alture some under middle class members. This kind of news paper and magazines present some characteristics of Chinese middle class under the framework of current media discourse. This paper discovers that as far as the components of Chinese middle class are concerned by the new paper and magazines, this group is presented both comprehensively and unilaterally. On one hand, texts of the new paper s and magazines show a variety of middle class images from all walks of life; On the other ,the presentation focus on certain trades and a relative neglect of others, it can creat both positive and negative impacts on the middle class itself and even the people from lower social status. Also,this kind of news paper and magazines afford a special communication form for middle class members,but most of them can never deviate the rule of commodity and consumption. It is not a casual phenomenon for this kind of news paper and magazines to be popular.As one of the public culture industry, it must be enslaved to the political and economical, the mass purpous of mass media is to gain the maximam profits, which makes them to search the common sense in the toolbox of culture. At last, the article believes the mass media should become the pusher to the development of the middle class and the whole Chinese society.
