Nowadays, as the service provided by Sichuan Telecom , Sichuan Netcom, Sichuan Unicom and Sichuan Tietong is very similar, there is fierce competition among them in the fixed telephone market in Sichuan. For getting much market share, all telecom company do all themselves to enlarge the rate of market occupancy.The competition environment of telecom market is dynamic and uncertain. It's very important to establish strategic planning in a dynamic and uncertain environment. As the new communication company, the strength of Sichuan Tietong is puniest among the four telecom companies providing fixed telephone service. In the fierce competition environment, facing the rapid development of new technologies and individuation of customer's requirements, Sichuan Tietong should analyze the external opportunities and threats as well as internal strengths and weaknesses, and by analyzing the forces that dictate the rules of competition within the telecom industry(barriers to entry, substitutes, bargaining power of buyers and suppliers, and current competitive rivalry), and then selecting a strategy that best exploits the competitive advantage of Sichuan Tietong. At last, Sichuan Tietong must manage and control the strategy efficiently to implement its strategic aim.The artic has been divided into six parts to discuss the competitive strategy of Sichuan Tietong. In the first part, the writer discusses the necessity of establishing competitive strategy. In the second part, the writer analyzes the external opportunities and threats of Sichuan Tietong.
